Update on Mounjaro Weight loss medication.

Our phone lines are very busy today due to mnumerous inquiries following recent media announcements.

South Yorkshire ICB has confirmed that Mounjaro and similar medications are NOT currently available on the NHS in our region for weight loss. They remain on the red (non-prescribable) list until a comprehensive NHS service is established to support and monitor treatment.

As a result, our practice cannot prescribe Mounjaro or similar medications for weight loss at this time.

Who will be eligible once the new service begins?

In the initial 12 months, only a limited number of patients will qualify. You must:

• Have a BMI over 40
• Have at least 4 of the following 5 conditions:
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Sleep apnoea
  • Heart disease or stroke
  • High cholesterol/triglycerides

We kindly ask that you refrain from contacting the surgery regarding this matter, as we are unable to prescribe these treatments currently.  Thank you
